scoe's special

Ok, I’ll admit, the first thing that drew me to this joint was the cover art.  That plate looks good as hell!  Upon further inspection, this track is good food too.  A bonus track from Damani Nkosi’s upcoming album Thoughtful King, this banger features a revolving door of dope Cali MCs.  ill camille, Thurz, Ohno, S-Mak and Problem all have standout verses, which says a lot on a posse song.  Get into it below.

L.A.-bred MC Thurz has been teasing us with singles from his new mixtape 517 W Queen Tape for a few weeks now.  At last, the final project has dropped and it’s well worth the wait.  This new tape is just the precursor to Blood on the Canvas, the follow-up to the finely crafted L.A. Riot517 has a more upbeat vibe but still maintains Thurz’s penchant for that “keep it 100” flow.  Guests include BJ the Chicago Kid, my dude Killer Mike, Aleon Craft, Johnny Polygon, Rich Kidd, Rocki Evans, and Tuki Carter.

“Hell’s Angel” is one of my favorite tracks from L.A. bred rapper THURZ‘s album L.A. Riot.  While a bulk of the album carries a sociopolitical, conscious tone, this track brings out emotions of love, (dis)trust, and pain.  The video does a nice job of aligning the lyrics with the image.  But don’t let the appearance of a sexy ride and a cute girl fool you into thinking the video is just blue skies and romantic views.  THURZ stays true to his discerning aesthetic with a serious twist at the end of the flick.

And if you still haven’t copped L.A. Riot, do that shit.
