The second track from Georgia Anne Muldrow’s upcoming project, Seeds, dropped last week.  ”Husfriend” is a laidback tune dedicated to finding and committing to love.  If this incredibly smooth track is any indication of what’s to be expected from the  Madlib/Muldrow collabI’m pretty sure some good shit is about to transpire.

Download the track on iTunes.  LP drops on 3/27.

With building anticipation of Black Radio (which will be in stores tomorrow, 2/28), a healthy sample of what’s in store from The Robert Glasper Experiment has been mixedrecorded and packaged up nicely, thanks to Frolab & All the Way Live.  The live recordings come from shows in NYC, Paris and Montreux with appearances from Yasiin Bey, Bilal, Phonte, and some other nice additions.

Download the mixtape here.

A lil late but I most certainly had to show love to one of soul music’s most influential, Erykah Badu. I remember when I heard “On & On” for the first time.  I couldn’t believe all the heart and soul emanating from my speakers.  Ever since then, I’ve been a lover fan of the analog girl in a digital world.  Her voice, her style, her entire being is the shit that nonconformists live for.  She’s the poster lady for “do what the hell you gon’ do.”  And at 41, she’s doing her own thing quite nicely.  Singer, mommy, dj, doula, artist, activist and b-girl, Badu has solidified her place in music lovers’ hearts.

Check out this interview where she explains the pivotal role of the DJ.  Yes, yes, y’all.

The artist formerly known as Mos Def has dropped some crazy shit for your eyes to behold.  Directed by himself and Set Free, the video is steeped in images of rebellion, tyranny, unrest, social and political injustices, the occupy movements, the big banks and fights for civil rights.  Add that to Yasiin’s prominent presence in the studio and the powerfully insightful lyrics, the rapper single-handedly denounces the frivolousness of the one percent.  As much as I dig the words, I’m loving the visuals even more.

I’ve been rocking to this Pharrell-produced track for a few weeks now.  Malaysian artist Yuna has added visuals to her inspiring track “Live Your Life.”  The video follows the singer as she embraces the sights and sounds of the city of which her efforts and dreams have placed her.  I really dig the overall theme of this song–living life to its fullest potential, “we were meant for something bigger than this.”

Everyone’s favorite visual band Gorillaz have teamed up with Andre 3000 and James Murphy in a collaborative effort sponsored by Converse’s 3 Artists, 1 Song project.  “DoYaThing” is just an all-around funky tune.

Look out for what will sure to be very dope visuals next Wednesday, February 29.

Favorite line: “Talmbout ’oh, he don’t rap enough,’ but y’all rap a lot, and I’m like ‘rap it up hoe’, you ain’t Scarface, you ain’t Willie D, you ain’t Bushwick”

Update: There’s an extended version (13 minutes long, man) available, thanks to 107.7 The End.

Members of Hyundai’s RE:GENERATION movement performed the funky jazz tune “A La Modeliste” on David Letterman.  Produced by Mark Ronson, led by Erykah Badu and backed up by Ziggaboo Modeliste and few a Dap Kings, the artists did a great job representing classic New Orleans music.  Great set.  Where were Yasiin Bey and Trombone Shorty though?  Check out the performance below.

One of my favorite tracks from Ritual Union.  The new video for “Crystalfilm” has a slight creep factor but it’s an interesting take nonetheless.

Little Dragon returns with the eccentric visuals for their track “Crystalfilm”, from their 2011 release Ritual Union. Directed by Daniel Wirtberg, the video conjures up an intense, visually provocative dream sequence. Little Dragon is good for keeping ish fresh and strangely innovative.  (via Jay Force)

Damian Marley and a love song? *swoon*  Whether he’s crooning or spitting, he always waxes poetic.  Anxiously anticipating his new album, reportedly dropping in September.  Y’all groove to this for a while.
(Yanked from Damian’s Soundcloud)

“Everybody wants to feel important and needed sometimes.  I guess I matter to somebody in my world.”

Truth, truth and more truth.  The intensely gifted “Golden Girl” Muhsinah was kind enough to share this new song with all, even those unfamiliar with her world and her words.  The result?  Deliberate beauty over a slowed down tempo.

You can unlock the download AND tweet about it all at once here.  Enjoy.
